Testimonials

"Teen PEP has really changed my life. The facts, activities, and workshops have really informed me on how issues such as HIV/AIDS are big issues. As a peer educator, I inform people about the risks and effects of STIs and I hope that I have made an impact on someone's life. Life is too short to live it unhealthy, so I am thankful for Teen PEP."

"Being involved in Teen PEP has deeply impacted me as an educator. The training I received from the Teen PEP staff introduced me to an extremely productive way of engaging students in their own learning and enabled me to connect with my students on a more significant level. The ongoing training and support from the Teen PEP staff have really helped me to navigate some difficult situations."

"Because of Teen PEP, not only does my son have the confidence to talk about a touchy subject like sex, but he has so much knowledge on the topic and is so willing to share everything he has learned with everyone. He enjoys being able to educate fellow peers in his school and has become a strong, confident, knowledgeable young adult, and Teen PEP is the program to thank for that."

"This program has molded me into an individual who I thought I would never become. Teen PEP is not just a typical health program, but it is a program that can change lives, and I am an individual who is an example of those words."

"Becoming a member of Teen PEP might have been one of the best decisions I made during my high school years. I gained so much knowledge that I would not have learned in a regular gym or health class. It felt good to have the facts first-hand about issues that are very relevant to teenagers today."

"The other day, a freshman flagged me down in the hallway ...[She] started off by saying that [she] really liked the workshop that we performed that week and had a question about sex for me. I smiled and said [she] could ask me anything, and a smile and big green eyes gleamed back at me - I knew that very moment why Teen PEP was so special."

"Kids listen to kids...When teens are willing to share experiences and educate positive and healthy behavior, we must grasp it - and not let such a valuable opportunity slip away.  My daughter has gained much insight and self-confidence by being involved in the program.  She has developed leadership skills which I don't think she even knew she possessed.  She has also developed communication and listening skills of which both of these will serve her well as she embarks on her college education."

"Teen PEP has been the most amazing experience for me.  I have learned about teen health issues that I was unaware of before, and I have learned so much about who I am and how I can succeed as a leader in my community.  I know that Teen PEP will be a part of me for the rest of my life."

"This program is effective because we teach our peers about many issues in an interactive way.  We do not just give them hundreds of facts, we mix facts with real life situations that the kids can relate to and understand. This makes all the topics real, and emphasizes their importance.  Without Teen PEP, a lot of people would not know all of their options and would not make safe, informed decisions."
